The announcement by American billionaire Elon Musk to create a new political party has caused a muted reaction in the Donald Trump administration. The White House believes that the boards of directors of the billionaire's companies may not support his political ambitions and may persuade him to return to business.
This opinion was expressed by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on CNN.
“I think the boards of his companies wanted him to come back and run them because he's the best at it. I think those boards didn't like what he said yesterday and they'll push him to focus on business rather than politics,” Bessent said.
Commenting on his personal differences with Musk during his cooperation with the administration, Bessent added that the entrepreneur does not have sufficient support:
“If you look at the polling, Elon was not like that,” he noted.
Recall that earlier it was reported that Elon Musk announced the creation of a new political force, but no official name or platform has been presented yet. He called it the “Party of America”.
