US President Donald Trump has proposed the death penalty for the murder of police officers. A fragment of his speech was posted on Twitter.
“[Democratic candidate Joe] Biden wants peace with the domestic terrorists, and I want to arrest them,” the US leader said. In his opinion, people who kill American police officers should be executed. Thus, Trump cited the example of the recent attack by an unknown person on two police officers. The President stated that only an animal could do this.
Earlier it became known that an unknown suspect armed with a pistol approached a parked LAPD patrol car and opened fire without warning. He managed to seriously injure two police officers and escape.
Since the end of May, dozens of cities in the United States and around the world have been protesting against police brutality over the death in Minneapolis of a black guard, George Floyd, who died after a brutal arrest. In some cases, protests have ended in riots, clashes with the police, looting, looting and pogroms.
Amid protests, Trump decided to sign an executive order aimed at police reform. It will aim to motivate police departments to use modern standards in the use of force.
