US President Donald Trump pardoned former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who was prosecuted as part of the so-called Russian investigation. The American leader announced this in his Twitter account.
“I am honored to announce the pardon of General Michael T. Flynn,” Trump said. The head of the United States congratulated Flynn and his family, noting that they will have “a truly fantastic Thanksgiving Day.”
In May 2020, the US Department of Justice decided to close the criminal case against Flynn about his possible secret ties with Russia. However, in September, the US Court of Appeals overturned this decision. The American leader noted that officials from the administration of the previous President Barack Obama who persecuted Flynn were “very dishonest people.” He stated that he considered the case to be high treason.
Earlier it was reported that the source for accusations against Trump about collusion with Russia was a Russian official. We are talking about a native of Perm, Olga Galkina, who in the past served as vice mayor of Saratov. Galkina, being at that moment in a strained relationship with the employer at Webzilla, allegedly stated that it was she who was behind the hacking of the servers of the Democratic National Committee. These allegations formed the basis of an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. At the same time, Galkina called the information that appeared untrue.
