According to Senator Graham, Trump believes that the time has come for new sanctions against Russia.
US President Donald Trump may have changed his mind and now believes that the time has come to tighten sanctions against Russia.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham reported this, ABC writes.
“If you buy goods from Russia and you don't help Ukraine, then your products coming into the United States will be subject to a 500% tariff. India and China buy 70% of Putin's oil. They support his war machine. My bill has 84 co-sponsors. It will allow the president (Trump – Ed.) to impose tariffs on China, India and other countries to stop them from supporting Putin's war machine,” says Senator Graham.
Graham said he spoke to the American president while playing golf with him.
“Yesterday, for the first time, the president (Donald Trump – ed.) told me when we were playing golf that it was time to move forward with the bill (on sanctions against Russia – ed.),” Graham said.
The politician clarified that the senators are giving the president a tool to bring Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table.
According to the senator, the law is expected to be adopted after the July recess. Traditionally, the Senate takes a break at the end of July and returns to work in September.
Earlier, the FT wrote that Donald Trump was changing his position towards Volodymyr Zelensky and dictator Putin.
