The campaign headquarters of US presidential candidate Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit in an Arizona court due to the fact that some of the ballots cast in the state on election day were not counted. This is reported by TASS with reference to the statement of the headquarters.
Due to the error of the employees of the polling stations of the Marikopa district, the votes of some voters were rejected, the statement says.
“When the voting machine detects that more than one candidate is marked on the ballot, the polling station officials must inform the voters personally about the mistake and give them the opportunity to correct the situation. However, in Maricopa District, polling station officials pressed and told voters to press the green button and ignore the [report] error. As a result, the cars ignored the voters' choice, ”the headquarters explained.
Also, Trump's headquarters said that he has statements from voters who have witnessed such incidents. The number of unaccounted votes was not specified, but the message says about “large scale”. Trump's representatives are demanding to manually check the ballots in which the machines recorded the presence of an error.
Earlier, Trump announced victory in the US presidential elections by “legal” votes. He also expressed his readiness to admit defeat in the elections if the legal processes initiated by his headquarters end in failure.
On November 7, Democrat Joe Biden, who received 290 of the required 270 electoral votes and thus secured his victory, proclaimed himself elected President of the United States.
