The US President demands punishment for those involved in leaking data about the operation in Iran.
US President Donald Trump has publicly accused Democrats of leaking classified information about the US operation related to nuclear facilities in Iran and is demanding that those responsible be held accountable.
Donald Trump wrote about this on his social network Truth Social.
“It was the Democrats who leaked the PERFECT FLIGHT to Iran Nuclear Sites. They should be held accountable!” Trump wrote.
These accusations emerged in the wake of a leak of a preliminary report by the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) to US media outlets. Information from the report was published by CNN and The New York Times, among others. According to the document, US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities only shut down Iran's nuclear program for several months, which contradicted President Trump's previous statements about their “total destruction.”
The leak has caused considerable outrage among President Trump and the White House. According to Sky News, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt called the leaker a “low-life loser in the intelligence community” and said it was “a clear attempt to humiliate President Trump and discredit the brave pilots.” The FBI has already launched an investigation into the incident.
In response to the leak, the Trump administration plans to limit the sharing of classified information with Congress, a move that has drawn criticism from some Democrats who have expressed skepticism about the president’s claims that the strikes are effective. Some also point out that Trump’s withdrawal from the nuclear deal in 2018 has further fueled Iran’s nuclear program.
