Donald Trump
The current US President Donald Trump has disowned prosecution of the son of his opponent, US President-elect Joe Biden. He wrote on his Twitter page that he had nothing to do with the investigation.
“I have NOTHING to do with the potential prosecution of Hunter Biden or the Biden family,” he said. Trump noted that statements in the media to the contrary are just “fake news”, adding that it is “very sad to watch.”
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that US Attorney General William Barr knew about the investigation against Hunter Biden, but remained silent so as not to influence the outcome of the election. At the same time, it was noted that in the last months before the elections, Trump and other representatives of the US Republican Party put pressure on Barr, calling for disclosure of data on the cases of both Biden.
On December 10, Hunter Biden announced that the US Attorney's Office for Delaware had begun studying his tax history. However, the son of the President-elect of the United States expressed confidence in his innocence, noting that he used the services of tax consultants. Later it became known that the US Department of Justice was interested in his connections with the Ukrainian gas company Burisma.
