According to American media, in addition to having dinner together, the politicians watched a documentary together.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Maloney made an unofficial visit to Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida on Saturday, January 4. She became one of the few European leaders to be received by the US president-elect before his inauguration.

France24 reports this.

Photos released by the Italian prime minister's office on Sunday morning show Meloni and Trump posing at the entrance to Mar-a-Lago and talking in the reception area, with a Christmas tree visible in the background.

According to US journalists present, Trump called Meloni “a fantastic woman.”

“She's really taken Europe by storm and everyone else, and we're just having dinner tonight,” Trump said.

According to American media, in addition to sharing a meal, the politicians watched the documentary “The Eastman Dilemma: Law or Justice” together about a lawyer accused of trying to overturn the 2020 election in Trump's favor.

Also present at the informal meeting were Trump's future national security adviser Mike Walts and Senator Marco Rubio, who was elected Secretary of State.

Melloney was one of several foreign leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who visited Trump before he took office position.

Trump's pledges to impose high import tariffs have sparked a row among Washington's traditional economic allies, particularly in Europe, over how to plan for the potential trade blow.

The visit by Maloney, who leads the far-right Brothers of Italy party, comes ahead of a four-day visit to Rome by incumbent US President Joe Biden, where he is expected to meet Maloney and separately with Pope Francis.

Recall that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni believes that Russia poses a threat to the security of the European Union not only because of possible military aggression. Moscow can use illegal immigration and other problems to undermine the EU.
