Donald Trump
US President Donald Trump has denied Russia's link to the story of Hunter Biden, the son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. He stated this in the Fox and Friends program, he was quoted by Interfax.
The American leader stressed that no matter what the head of the US House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff, asserted, the incident with the declassified letters of the Democrat's son had no connection with Moscow. The President also recalled the findings of the head of US National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, who argued the same.
“It's just crazy. The quirky Schiff said yesterday: “This is Russia.” I mean, he is a sick person, he is so very sick, “Trump stressed.
We are talking about a statement by The New York Times, which had at its disposal a previously unpublished correspondence between Biden Jr. and Ukrainian businessman Vadim Pozharsky, who served as advisor to the board of directors and director of international development at Burisma Group. In one of the letters dated April 17, 2015 (about a year after Hunter Biden became a member of the company's board of directors), Pozharsky thanks Biden Jr. for arranging a meeting with his father in Washington.
In another message, sent in May 2014, Pozharsky asks Biden Jr. to think about how he can use his influence for the good of the company. The Democratic Party called this information untrue. Later it became known that the FBI was investigating the possible involvement of foreign intelligence in the published correspondence.
Donald Trump supporters accuse Joe Biden of corruption. In their opinion, the politician, being vice president during the Barack Obama administration, patronized his son Hunter's business in Ukraine. Until 2019, Hunter served on the board of directors of the oil and gas company Burisma Holdings.
