Trump Announces Israel-Iran Ceasefire: Tehran Denies

On the night of June 24, US President Donald Trump issued a series of statements in which he announced the achievement of a “complete and definite ceasefire” between Israel and Iran.

Trump's Statements on the Situation in Iran

Trump said both sides agreed to stop fighting within the next 12 hours, after which “the war will be considered over.”

“Israel and Iran have fully agreed that there will be a COMPLETE AND DEFINITIVE CEASE-FIRE… after which the world will welcome the OFFICIAL END OF THE 12-DAY WAR,” Trump wrote on social media.

– This is a war that could have gone on for years and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it did not and never will!

Trump said Israel and Iran approached him “almost simultaneously” asking for peace.

– The world and the Middle East are the real WINNERS! Both countries will see great LOVE, PEACE and PROSPERITY in their future, – he noted.

Trump also thanked Qatar for helping broker a potential deal.

According to CNN, the US President held a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar, in which he said that Israel had agreed to a truce.

Trump asked Doha to persuade Iran to accept a similar offer. The Iranians then agreed to a cease-fire, the sources said.

However, the Iranian side quickly responded publicly and denied any agreements.

“Iran has not received any ceasefire proposal and sees no basis for one,” an official in Tehran told CNN.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also said there was no “agreement” yet on any ceasefire or military operations.

At the same time, he made it clear that Iran was ready to suspend its retaliatory strikes on the condition that Israel stops its attacks by 4:00 a.m. Tehran time.

“As Iran has repeatedly stated: Israel started the war against Iran, not the other way around… We do not intend to continue our response after this if the aggression stops,” Araghchi added.

As of this morning, the situation remains tense.

Tehran insists that a final decision on ending hostilities has not yet been made.
