The administration of Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a letter of condolences to the coronavirus-infected American leader Donald Trump. American writer Edmund Griffiths noted on Twitter that the content was almost the same as that which British Prime Minister Boris Johnson received from Putin in the same situation.
Griffiths drew attention to the fact that a letter to Trump on behalf of the head of Russia says: “I am confident that your inherent vitality, good spirits and optimism will allow you to cope with a dangerous virus.” When it became known in April this year that Johnson had contracted the infection, a letter from Putin told him: “I am sure that your energy, optimism and sense of humor will allow you to defeat the disease.”
The following message contains a letter from Putin to Brazilian leader Jair Bolsonar: it also talks about the inherent qualities (vitality and resilience) that will help to cope with the disease.
The coronavirus infection of the American president became known on the morning of October 2. His wife Melania Trump also tested positive for coronavirus. Sean Conley, a physician at the White House, said that the US leader and the first lady are doing well and plan to stay in the residence for the duration of their recovery. Trump does not intend to transfer his powers to US Vice President Mike Pence yet.
