The American president doubts Iran's ability to continue developing nuclear weapons.
US President Donald Trump said he would definitely consider bombing Iranian nuclear facilities again if he deems it necessary.
He said this on Friday, June 27, during a conversation with journalists at the White House, CNN reports.
However, he considers it “absolutely improbable” that Iran's uranium enrichment program will continue after the US strikes on June 22.
Trump said he does not believe Iran will “return to nuclear weapons anytime soon.”
The US president also said he was “not really concerned” about Iran's secret nuclear facilities, suggesting the country is now more focused on survival after the bombings.
“I can tell you, they are exhausted. The last thing they are thinking about is nuclear weapons. You know what they are thinking about? They are thinking about tomorrow, trying to live,” he said.
Earlier, CNN reported, citing a preliminary US intelligence assessment, that the US strikes on Iran had not destroyed key components of the country's nuclear program and had likely only set it back a few months. The assessment was based on a battle damage analysis conducted by US Central Command.
The media report angered US President Donald Trump, who called the attacks “one of the most successful military strikes in history.” According to him, “nuclear facilities in Iran have been completely destroyed.”
Recall that CIA Director John Ratcliffe, in his statement published on Wednesday, June 25, assured that Iran's nuclear program had been seriously damaged by recent targeted US strikes.
