Trudeau says he has reached an agreement with Trump to delay tariffs for a month

Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he had agreed with US President Donald Trump to postpone the introduction of tariffs on all Canadian import.

The Canadian Prime Minister announced this on social media X.

“The proposed tariffs will be deferred for at least 30 days while we work together,” Trudeau said.

He said that both countries have agreed to significantly step up the fight against drug trafficking.

“Canada is implementing a $1.3 billion border security plan, strengthening enforcement with new helicopters, technology, personnel, deeper collaboration with our American partners, and additional resources to stop fentanyl trafficking. “We will have about 10,000 people working on the front lines to protect the border,” the prime minister said.

In addition, Canada will create a new position to oversee national efforts to control drug trafficking.

“We will designate cartels as terrorist organizations, provide 24/7 border surveillance, and create a Joint Canada-America Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl, and money laundering. I also signed a new intelligence directive on organized crime and fentanyl, which will be funded with $200 million,” Trudeau said.
