Trudeau recalled when Russia started the war against Ukraine

Canada will continue to provide all possible assistance to the Ukrainian people.

On the tenth anniversary of Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recalled , that it was then, in 2014, that the aggressor state began a war against sovereign Ukraine.

Ukrinform reports this.

“Today reminds us that Russia’s war against Ukraine began not on February 24, 2022, but a decade earlier. Since Putin is still trying to change the map of the world at his discretion, we remain unequivocal: the territory of Ukraine will remain Ukrainian, and we will support Ukraine as long as necessary,” the Canadian Prime Minister emphasized.

Trudeau called Russia’s invasion of Crimea not just an attack on the free and sovereign state of Ukraine, but also an attack “on the rules-based international order and shared values that are important to Canadians.”

“Putin violated the UN Charter – the basis of our international system – and held a fictitious referendum, trying to legitimize his actions. After this, mass repressions began against the inhabitants of the region, especially against the Crimean Tatars,” the Canadian Prime Minister emphasized .

He recalled the wide range of sanctions imposed by Canada against Russia, the training of more than 40 thousand Ukrainian defenders within UNIFIER, billions of dollars in military, humanitarian and macro-financial assistance, and promised further support for the Ukrainian people and their right to determine their own future.

Recall that Canada is open to sending its troops to Ukraine. However, we are not talking about the participation of Canadian soldiers in hostilities.
