Trilateral meeting on Syria made a joint statement
Russia, Turkey, Iran made a joint statement following the meeting in Sochi in the “Astana format”, in which they criticized the illegal seizure and transfer of oil revenues in northeastern Syria, RIA Novosti reported.
Thus, the participants in the meeting believe that the oil fields should belong to the SAR government.
The special envoy of the President of the Russian Federation for Syria, Alexander Lavrentyev, stressed in his statement that the guarantor countries unanimously agreed that stability in Syria is possible only on the basis of maintaining the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In addition, the countries condemned the increase in terrorist activity in various parts of Syria, as it leads to casualties among civilians. The parties also called on Israel to stop shelling the SAR.
With regard to sanitary security within the region, Russia, Turkey and Iran indicated the need to prioritize vaccination of the Syrian population against coronavirus as part of the COVAX initiative, as the spread of the disease significantly complicates the work of the Syrian health system.
Let us remind you that the trilateral meeting of the guarantors of the “Astana process” on Syria is taking place in Sochi. The event is attended by representatives of Russia, Iran and Turkey, as well as delegates from the UN, ICRC, the Syrian government and local opposition.
