In the Kherson region, a 62-year-old man was arrested who severely beat his friend. He tried to save the victim, but a few days later he died in the hospital.
The incident took place in the village of Belozerka. The suspect invited a friend to his home: while continuing to celebrate the Christmas holidays, the men drank alcohol.
When the alcohol ended, a conflict arose between the acquaintances. The owner of the house knocked the 59-year-old man to the ground and started kicking and punching.
The man stopped when he realized that his friend had lost consciousness. He called an ambulance and tried to bring the victim to his senses on his own.
During the interrogation, the 62-year-old man said that he did not remember the reasons for the conflict. He admitted guilt in what he had done, adding that during the fight he simply did not calculate his strength.
Criminal proceedings were opened under Part 2 of Art. 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court has already chosen a measure of restraint for the man: he will spend the next 60 days in a pre-trial detention center without the right to post bail.
The pre-trial investigation continues. For what he has done, he faces from 7 to 10 years in prison.
