The guys were pulled out of the water and resuscitated, but they died in the hospital.
On Saturday, February 17, in Poland, near the city of Suwałki, Podlaskie Voivodeship, two Ukrainian teenagers – boys 12 and 16 years old – fell through the ice on a lake.
This is reported by the Polish publication portalsamorzadowy.
“According to the police, on Saturday afternoon in Stary Filwarka on Lake Wigry, about two hundred meters from the shore , the ice collapsed under the guys. The guys are citizens of Ukraine, 12 and 16 years old,” the publication says.
About thirty rescuers, including divers, took part in the rescue operation on the lake. They used boats and ice sleds, and a helicopter was also involved
The teenagers were pulled out of the water, they were resuscitated on the shore and taken to the hospital in serious condition. However, both teenagers died in the hospital; one on Saturday evening, the other on Sunday after midnight.
Following the death of the children, the local prosecutor's office began an investigation into the actions of the guardians for omission and unintentional causing of death.
It was previously reported that a 38-year-old Ukrainian woman was brutally murdered in Poland. The 48-year-old man stabbed the woman twenty times. There are three children left without a mother at home in Ukraine.
