Tractor farmers protest mink destruction in Copenhagen

by alex

Danish farmers staged a tractor protest in the center of Copenhagen against the mass destruction of minks due to the danger of the spread of the mutated coronavirus. RIA Novosti reports.

Several hundred Danes have demanded that the government resign over its decision to kill all minks in the country. Demonstrators noted that the authorities did not have the legal authority to take such measures, and the resignation of the Minister of Agriculture was not enough. Farmers rode tractors through the capital in a sign of their displeasure with government policies.

Earlier, Ancha Baranova, professor at the School of Systems Biology at George Mason University (USA), said that the mutation of the coronavirus, which occurred in minks on farms in Denmark, turned out to be dangerous for two reasons, one of which is the ability to create more super-distributors, the other is the ability to infect people, already recovered from COVID-19.

On November 5, Denmark decided to destroy all minks on fur farms to prevent the spread of the mutated coronavirus. In these animals, an infection was found that spreads to humans and contributes to the weakening of the ability to form antibodies. There are currently 12 registered people with this virus. Later it became known that the authorities had not yet made a final decision and were considering what to do with the animals.
