In Dneprorudny, Zaporozhye region, a 51-year-old man detonated an F-1 grenade in a rented apartment where he lived with his wife. The victim is in the intensive care unit.
The man had shrapnel wounds to his limbs and torso, as well as traumatic amputation of the hand.
Investigators and explosives experts found that the victim had independently disassembled the grenade's fuse, resulting in an explosion.
< p> Besides him, no one else was injured in the house.
Militiamen found other ammunition in the apartment. They seized the fragments of the F-1 grenade body, more than 170 live rounds of various calibers, one RGD grenade with a fuse from the Second World War, an RGD grenade without a fuse also from the Second World War, one drum with 7.62 mm cartridges, three bayonet knives and an object similar to a Mosin rifle.
The man explained that he had been collecting ammunition for a long time and kept all at home.
The police opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal handling weapons, ammunition or explosives.
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a period of three to seven years.
