Dmitry Kozak
At a meeting in Berlin, political advisers to the leaders of the Normandy Four countries agreed to support the ceasefire in Donbass. The topics of the meeting were revealed by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Dmitry Kozak, reports TASS.
“We agreed that we will support the regime of silence, the ceasefire regime, that the additional measures that were taken on July 22 will be unconditionally observed, that the mechanisms for ensuring the ceasefire will be implemented both from one side and the other,” – said Kozak.
According to Kozak, representatives of the leaders of the countries exchanged views “on all issues of resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine,” but no breakthrough was achieved. Not all issues “have been agreed upon,” he added.
He also said that the issue of the situation with Alexei Navalny was not raised at the meeting, the advisers “strictly adhered to the agenda.” Also, the issues of holding the summit of the “Normandy Four” were not discussed, there is no information about when the next summit can be held.
Talks on the military conflict in Donbass have been taking place in Minsk since 2014. In February 2015, a meeting of the leaders of the Normandy Four countries (Ukraine, Russia, France, Germany) took place in the capital of Belarus, which resulted in the adoption of the so-called Minsk agreements, which provide, in particular, a ceasefire and an exchange of prisoners. The last summit in the “Normandy format” at the highest level was held in Paris on December 9, 2019. Its participants signed a final communiqué, which implies further implementation of the Minsk agreements.
