Two of the best reconnaissance aircraft of the US Air Force flew over eastern Ukraine near the territory controlled by Russian militants. They watched the maneuvers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the Black Sea and from the territory of Ukraine.

It is noted that this is one of the first missions that the US Air Force openly carried out in Ukrainian airspace. The flight took place nine months after Russia began building up potential forces in preparation for an invasion of Ukraine.
The Russian army was tracked by American E-8 Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS ) and RC-135 during the flight over the Black Sea and Ukraine. According to the magazine, the United States is monitoring the deployment of the Russian Federation and collecting intelligence about Ukraine.

Vice Speaker of the Federation Council RF Konstantin Kosachev said that one of the grounds on which the RF Armed Forces can be operatively used abroad is the protection of Russian citizens outside its territory in the event of an armed attack on them.
