Felix Auger-Aliassime is Canada's great tennis hope. Now he works with Rafael Nadal's uncle.
Toni Nadal returns to the ATP tour. The uncle of world star Rafael Nadal, who accompanied his nephew to many heights until 2017, is now working with the Canadian hope Felix Auger-Aliassime (20). The 60-year-old Nadal moved to his nephew's academy on Mallorca in 2017. “I will work with Toni from this tournament on,” said Auger-Aliassime during a zoom call before the event in Monte Carlo.
Ferederic Fontang remains his coach. Auger-Aliassime is currently ATP-22. and has lost all seven ATP Tour finals to date. “I've never thought about working with anyone else before,” said Toni Nadal, who was approached by the young Canadian last December. “Felix is a very well trained player who can become one of the best in the world.”
Should his new player play against his nephew, he will not sit in the player box. “I am still his uncle and have worked with him for many years.”
