Tomb of Djoser: in Egypt, after restoration, the tomb of the pharaoh was opened
In Egypt, after many years of restoration, the tomb of Pharaoh Djoser was opened, MIR 24 reports.
The tomb of the pharaoh is located in Sakkara near Cairo. Its age is almost five thousand years. It is considered the oldest stone building in the world. According to some scholars, this tomb was intended to store vessels with organs removed during mummification.
The restoration work went on for 15 years. They included strengthening the vaults of the labyrinth of underground corridors, clearing relief images and decoration from ceramic tiles, and installing lighting. Now one of the most ancient sights of Egypt is available for tourists to visit.
Repair work will begin in the near future on another ancient structure – Stonehenge is being closed due to cracks in the stones. The restoration will take about two weeks. This is the first such work in the last 60 years.
Earlier it was reported that the solar boat of Pharaoh Cheops was transported to the Great Egyptian Museum. The ship is 42 meters long and weighs 20 tons. The transportation project was being prepared for several months, and the process of overcoming the 7.5 kilometers of the route took ten hours.
