Tokyo introduces emergency mode due to coronavirus
Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, during a meeting of the government headquarters, announced the introduction of an emergency regime in Tokyo from July 12 to August 22, amid an increase in coronavirus cases. This is reported by Kyodo News.
It is noted that for the same period, the emergency regime in Okinawa and the regime of enhanced measures in the prefectures of Osaka, Saitama, Kanagawa and Chiba are being extended.
During the emergency mode, the sale of alcohol in restaurants and bars in these regions will be limited, and it will be impossible to use the karaoke service.
In addition, the Japanese authorities urge citizens to stop traveling between regions during the summer holidays and vacations during the Obon Memorial Day.
Tokyo has seen a steady increase in the number of cases of the new COVID-19 over the past two and a half weeks. On July 7, 1,030 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded, which was the highest figure since May 13 of this year.
