To contain the Kremlin: the US deliberately reported scenarios of a threat of a Russian attack on Ukraine – CNN

by alex

According to journalists, the US National Security Council and US intelligence deliberately provided the administration of US President Joe Biden with data on alarming scenarios for the threat of another Russian invasion of Ukraine.

That was their strategy to contain the Kremlin and also to thwart its plans, White House officials told CNN.

Interlocutors of the publication argue that there are signs that the strategy is working. According to them, because of the intercepted data, the Russian military and intelligence “complain about the exposure of plans.”

Thus, the United States hopes to make the Russian military doubt itself and the ability to realize some of its plans, since they could not be kept secret and the effect of surprise was lost.

At the same time, according to the publication, such a strategy has led to conflicts with the American media, as the Biden administration refuses to provide evidence of its statements.

Usually this information came from intelligence officials, and officials, in fact, asked journalists to report data without confirmation.

At the same time, some CNN sources close to intelligence were surprised at the amount of publicly released information.
