TikTok started testing the Stories format

by alex

Short video service TikTok has begun testing a new Stories format similar to Instagram. This was reported in the press service of the social network, reports Bloomberg.

The press service said that the company is launching a pilot Stories format in several markets. Similar to Instagram Stories, TikTok users will be able to post text messages, photos or videos that disappear after 24 hours.

British social media consultant Matt Navarra was the first to share this on Twitter. He posted a screenshot from an app labeled “Introducing TikTok Stories.”

For the first time, the Stories format appeared on the Snapchat service, in 2016 the same function was introduced by Instagram, and then Facebook, which owns it. In November 2020, Twitter decided to launch this format. The new feature was called Fleets. However, in August 2021, the social network abandoned Fleets, explaining this by the lack of growth of people who used this format.

In 2019, Instagram launched a video format similar to that of TikTok. The function is called Reels. With its help, social network users can create music videos, overlaying music from the Facebook collection, on their video (up to 15 seconds long), as well as add special effects in the form of captions that pop up at the right time. In addition, you can borrow sound from another user's video clip by creating a remix or parody.
