TikTok is sued in the UK for collecting personal data from children
Former UK Children's Ombudsman Anne Longfield has filed a lawsuit against TikTok for the illegal collection of children's personal data, The Guardian reports.
According to her, the application violates the laws of the Kingdom and the Commonwealth countries, as it does not warn the parents of underage users.
The service has a 13-year minimum registration age, but last year the broadcast regulator found that 42% of UK children between the ages of eight and 12 are using TikTok.
In turn, the administration of the social network deemed the accusations unfounded and emphasized that privacy and security are top priorities for TikTok.
Earlier, a fraudulent website appeared on the Russian Internet that collects data to log into the TikTok social network account. Fraudsters send bloggers an offer to install a version of TikTok for businesses with a monetization option.
