The short video service TikTok surpassed Facebook for the first time to become the most downloaded app of 2020. This is stated in a Nikkei study. Telegram has risen from eighth to seventh in the app rating.
The success of TikTok is associated, among other things, with the coronavirus pandemic, and Telegram – with the new WhatsApp policy, according to which the application began to share information with Facebook. TikTok's Chinese rival Likee came in at No. 8 in the rankings.

In the US, the top 10 also includes the voice service for gamers Discord and the Google Duo video chat. In China, the lead is held by the Chinese version of TikTok called Douyin. In Japan, the messenger Line is on the 1st place.
