Tide began developing the world's first laundry detergent for use in space. It will allow the colonizers of other planets not to worry about contaminating their clothes. However, the powder can also be used on Earth.
Procter & Gamble (P&G), whose brand is Tide, has teamed up with NASA to solve the problem. Experts want to create a tool that can be used to clean the clothes of astronauts both on board the International Space Station (ISS) and during future flights to the Moon and Mars.
They want to deliver the washing powder to the ISS by 2022. There it will be tested in microgravity and a different level of radiation. In addition, the station will test the effectiveness of Tide cleaning wipes.
Currently, ISS crew members cannot clean their clothes. They just wear one set many times and then change it to a new one.
