Virgin Galactic has announced the start of ticket sales for space tourism enthusiasts. But such flights are not going into orbit, but taking off to an altitude of about 90 km without going beyond the Earth's surface. At the same time, passengers feel weightlessness for 4 minutes.
Not so long ago, Virgin CEO Richard Branson was on such a flight. It was a demonstration of the company's success and flight safety on their SpaceShipTwo. Flights should become permanent and will have a purely commercial focus.
As noted, prices will amount to 450 thousand dollars per person, compared with prices a decade ago – $ 250 thousand.
