Three Russian channels to stop broadcasting in Latvia
Tet, one of the largest cable operators in Latvia, will stop broadcasting Russian TV channels in the country, according to a press release from the company.
Thus, PBK (a repeater of the programs of the First Channel of the Russian Federation in the Baltic countries), NTV Mir, Ren TV Baltiya, Kinokomediya and Kinomix are excluded from broadcasting.
The reason was the lack of clarity in the right to represent the channels and concerns about compliance with the sanctions regime. Tet sent requests for the rights to rebroadcast these channels to the channel distributor in Latvia, LLC TEM LV, but did not receive a legally substantiated explanation.
From February 1, the operator will offer viewers the TV channels LTV7, 1 + 2, 3+, Mir, TVCi, Dozhd, UATV, Zdorovoe TV and many others.
Tet is the largest cable TV operator, 51% of the company's shares are owned by Latvia.
Earlier it was reported that in Lithuania the Radio and Television Commission banned the broadcast of five Russian TV channels included in Russia Today.
