Three European countries stop vaccination of AstraZeneca after death of patients

by alex

Italy has stopped vaccination against coronavirus with doses from a specific batch of AstraZeneca after two deaths of patients who received it. In total, three European countries have already resorted to this measure, reports Reuters.

The authorities clarified that this is a precaution: in both cases, it has not been proven that the death is somehow related to the consequences of vaccination.

The decision was made after 43-year-old naval officer Stefano Palermo, who had received an injection of the drug the day before, died of a heart attack. The second patient, 50-year-old police officer Davide Villa, also felt unwell within 24 hours after vaccination and died soon after.

Both patients received the drug supplied in lot ABV285. On the same day, it was reported that the vaccination of AstraZeneca was suspended by Norway, and before that such a decision was made by Denmark.
