Those who had recovered from the omicron strain of coronavirus were found to have a fourfold increased immunity to the delta. This was stated by scientists from the Republic of South Africa (South Africa) Alex Sigal and Khadija Khan, reports TASS.
“There is every reason to believe that the omicron strain will strengthen human immunity in relation to the delta variant and reduce its ability to re-infect humans,” the experts concluded. According to them, the studies carried out prove that in patients who have had the omicron, the neutralization of the Indian strain is increased by 4.4 times compared with those who have not been infected.
It is noted that in most South African citizens, the disease caused by the omicron strain of COVID-19 is mild and does not lead to hospitalization.
Earlier, Ryan Roach, director of South Africa's largest medical insurance company, Discovery Health, said that hoarseness in his voice is often the earliest symptom of the omicron strain of COVID-19. He noted that this symptom can appear even before the patient develops other, more serious signs of infection.
