The time of waiting is over. The Ski World Cup starts the new season in a week. The ÖSV has now announced the teams for the start.
The new season traditionally starts with the giant glacier slalom on the Rettenbachferner in Sölden. After a season without fans, spectators will be allowed again at the start of the season in Tyrol. In Sölden one reckons with 5,000 fans. A first step back to normal in the Ski World Cup.
The ladies start on October 23rd. The ÖSV nominated Stephanie Brunner, Franziska Gritsch, Ricarda Haaser, Katharina Huber, Katharina Liensberger, Elisa Mörzinger, Stephanie Resch, Ramona Siebenhofer and Katharina Truppe for the first race of the season.
Huber and Resch secured their starting positions in the qualification on Friday.
The men's start will follow on October 24th. With Vincent Kriechmayr, Austria's newly crowned “Sportsman of the Year” can also be found in the red-white-red ski line-up. The double world champion from Cortina only wants to decide on a giant slalom at short notice. Should Kriechmayr withdraw, Lukas Feurstein would take his place.
