The Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Authority Lyudmila Denisova demands that measures be taken to prevent emergencies in health care facilities in Ivano-Frankovsk region.
Thus, the Ombudsman reacted to the fire in the Kosovar central regional hospital on December 28, where four people died and three more were burned.
– This is not the only case of fires in health care facilities in Ivano-Frankivsk region in 2021.
So, according to the Main Directorate of the State Emergencies Service, on April 15, 2021, there was a fire in the infectious diseases department of the Dolinsk Central Regional Hospital. Exactly one month later, on May 15, a fire broke out in the Lisetsk central regional hospital. In both cases, there were no casualties, – notes Lyudmila Denisova.
Due to the tragedy, the authorized representative of the Verkhovna Rada sent letters:
- to the head of the State Labor Service of Ukraine,
- to the Minister of Health of Ukraine,
- to the head of Ivano- Frankivsk Regional State Administration,
- Head of the Main Directorate of the State Emergencies Service in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
Lyudmila Denisova calls for all of them to take measures to strengthen control over the observance by healthcare institutions of Ivano-Frankivsk region of the requirements of the legislation on civil protection and fire safety, labor protection, detection of violations and prevention of emergencies, protection of life and health of people.
The Ombudsman assures her that the question is under her personal control.
On the evening of December 28, a fire broke out in the ward of the intensive care unit of the Kosovar central regional hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
Three patients died, one died from coronavirus before the fire. Three more doctors were hospitalized with injuries of varying degrees of severity, two of them are in critical condition.
Previously, the fire broke out due to contact with oversaturated oxygen air, when one of the employees, according to the tradition of the medical institution, lit a candle for the repose of the deceased from the coronavirus.
The prosecutor's office began criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of fire safety requirements.
The sanction of the article provides for up to eight years in prison. Investigative actions are currently underway.
