“This is empty talk”: French Foreign Minister assesses Putin's nuclear threats

According to Jean-Noël Barrot, Putin is “brandishing” new nuclear doctrine to intimidate the West.

France is not intimidated by the changes in Russia's nuclear doctrine announced the day before by Kremlin dictator Putin.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said this on the CNews TV channel on Wednesday, November 20.

“This is just empty talk, let's not let ourselves be intimidated by Russia's threats,” Barrot said.

The United States has given Ukraine permission to strike Russian territory with American-made long-range missiles in response to the participation of the DPRK military in the war against Ukraine, which the West has considered an escalation of the conflict. After this became known in the Russian Federation, Putin once again pulled out his “nuclear baton” and began to “wave” it, threatening Ukraine and NATO countries.

“This is the nuclear rhetoric that Vladimir Putin has been using for two and a half years to cause fear. And this did not come as a surprise, because several weeks ago he already announced a modification of the nuclear doctrine,” the minister clarified.

Jean-Noël Barrot also repeated the words of French President Emmanuel Macron, calling on Russia to “come to its senses” and remember the “responsibility of a nuclear power,” which is also a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

Recall that Russia has started nuclear blackmail again. Putin's lackeys Peskov and Medvedev made corresponding statements about the possibility of nuclear strikes in the event of Ukraine using American ATACMS missiles on Russian territory. A military expert explained the reality of nuclear threats from the Russian Federation.
