Several provinces in Turkey have recorded the third peak of the novel coronavirus pandemic. This was stated by the country's health minister Fahrettin Koca, TASS reports.
“Some provinces are experiencing a third peak. Among them are Istanbul, Izmir, Kocaeli, Bursa, ”the minister said during a press conference.
At the same time, Koca noted that an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 is observed in all Turkish provinces, in 15 of them it has increased to 50 percent.
According to the ministry, on November 25, Turkey recorded an anti-record for the number of deaths per day due to COVID-19 – 168 people. The previous anti-coronavirus death record in Turkey was recorded on November 24, when 153 people died.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the total number of people infected with coronavirus infection has exceeded 460 thousand, 12 672 people have died, 381 569 patients have recovered.
Earlier in November, it was reported that Turkey wanted to produce the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Russian and Turkish Health Ministers Mikhail Murashko and Fahrettin Koca met at the initiative of the Turkish side. The press service of the Russian Ministry of Health said that Ankara is interested in production “at the facilities of Turkish pharmaceutical manufacturers after conducting toxicological studies provided for by local legislation.”
