Tennis ace Dominic Thiem returns to work for the comeback after a vacation. His closest team is being rebuilt for the new start.

After a vacation on Sylt, Dominic Thiem's work on the comeback starts again. Thiem also wears a splint on his right hand. Tennis is out of the question. The tendon sheath on the right wrist is said to heal conservatively. However, an operation is not off the table. A doctor's appointment in the next few days should provide final information. “Everything depends on that,” confirms Thiem.

The folding movement in the forehand strike is what caused Thiem problems. If everything goes according to plan, the 28-year-old wants to start tennis training in November. This time he won't rush anything: “I wanted too much too early on the first attempt.” After the vacation he is now working on his fitness with neo-coach Jez Green. “I want to be stronger than ever in Australia,” says Thiem, who slipped to eighth place in the world rankings.

One thing is clear: Team Thiem will be completely different on the comeback after a break of more than half a year. After manager Herwig Straka and fitness coach Mike Reinprecht (“ Today ” reported in advance), physiotherapist Alexander Stober will no longer be part of it.

Thiem recently said on ServusTV that the German is still part of his team. According to ” Today” information, a new start should also take place here in consultation with the Spanish management under Galo Blanco.

This comes as a surprise to many tennis insiders, but is considered internally decided. Stober joined Team Thiem in 2015 under former coach Günter Bresnik. He previously looked after stars like Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras or Gustavo Kuerten and was considered a close confidante of Thiem, who treated him late into the night and found a personal connection to him.

The new “grinder” Jez Green was also brought into the Thiem team on the initiative of the Spanish agency “Kosmos”.
