Gosep reports that Ukrainian people’s deputies are acting on the instructions of the FSB, which destabilizes the situation in Ukraine.
The US Treasury has imposed sanctions against four citizens of Ukraine, among them the current MPs from the party “OPZZH” Taras Kozak and Oleg Voloshin. The US State Department reported that Ukrainian politicians are involved in destabilizing the situation and are connected with the activities of Russian intelligence.
The corresponding message appeared on the website of the American department.
“The persons, two of whom are People’s deputies of Ukraine, act on the instructions of the FSB and support Russian dangerous influence operations that undermine not only Ukraine, but also the fundamental principles of democracy. Among the four people identified today areTaras Kozak, Oleg Voloshin, Vladimir Oleinik and Vladimir Sivkovich,” the message reads.
The State Department noted that Russia uses hybrid tactics, including disinformation and other influence campaigns, to destabilize Ukraine, which they have been doing for many years. It is noted that in 2020, Kremlin officials launched a comprehensive information operation plan designed to worsen the ability of the Ukrainian state to function independently. According to the US department, the Ukrainian People’s deputies, against whom sanctions were imposed, played a key role in this campaign.
The FSB uses these officials and creates an unstable situation in Ukraine. In particular, the statement notes that in 2016 Russia tried to influence the elections in the United States. And also thatTaras Kozak used the TV channels belonging to him both to denigrate high-ranking members of President Zelensky’s inner circle and to reinforce fake reports about the US elections in 2020.
“For more than a decade, Russia has been using disinformation agencies and branches of intelligence services around the world to spread false messages in support of its strategic goals,” American diplomats explain.
The United States is cooperating with the Ukrainian authorities to identify such entities.
Recall that on January 20, the United States imposed sanctions against four citizens of Ukraine, among them the current people’s deputies, in particular the associate of the pro-Russian deputy Viktor Medvedchuk – Taras Kozak. The list includes people’s deputies from the “OPZH” Taras Kozak and Oleg Voloshin, as well as former people’s deputies of the “Party of Regions” Vladimir Oleinik and Vladimir Sivkovich.
