This was discussed on air by 24 Channel with Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman and political scientist Kirill Sazonov. According to him, Russia is trying to recruit mercenaries from all over the world. There have even been Chinese prisoners.
Where North Korean troops might be redeployed
As Sazonov noted, North Korea significantly helped Russia during the full-scale war. They transferred personnel, ammunition, military equipment, etc. Without North Korea and China, Russia would not have been able to fight for a long time.
There have already been reports of 11-12 thousand North Korean troops in Russia. If North Korea deploys additional troops, they could replace the Russians in one of the directions.
Of the 50,000-strong enemy group in Kursk and Sumy regions, about 10,000 are busy guarding the border and fighting our bridgeheads. They can be replaced by North Korean troops. Then all sorts of border guards and the Russian National Guard will be transferred to Sumy region. This is possible, – noted Sazonov.
Let's add that Kirill Budanov has already said that they expect “a significant increase in the number of North Korean citizens” on Russian territory.
