They will fly deep behind enemy lines: the first samples of Lancet-type UAVs have been created in Ukraine

Ukraine has already created the first samples of its own drones, which are an analogue of the Russian Lancet attack drones. They will be able to fly deep behind enemy lines.

Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov spoke about this on the air of the United News telethon.

What is known about Ukrainian analogues of Lancets

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, there are categories of drones that are under development, “and the first samples are already beginning to appear.” These also include Lancet-type drones.

Fedorov expressed hope that mass production of such UAVs will start soon.

– These are, in fact, Lancet-type drones that capture a target, automatically fly to it and destroy it, using certain technologies, neural networks, and artificial intelligence. And today more manufacturers have almost achieved results in the development of similar projects. Therefore, we will hope for mass production of such UAVs,” he emphasized.

Fedorov clarified that the new drones will allow our military to work during the day, “at a distance deep behind enemy lines, somewhere up to 30 – 40 km.”

In comparison, FPV drones can operate at a distance of up to 10 km.

“Copters work at night, but we need to increase the ability to work during the day against the enemy with essentially such effective ammunition that accurately hits equipment,” Fedorov added.

He also noted that 43 UAV strike companies have already been formed in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These are regular units within brigades.

– This is a drone war. The number of enemy vehicles hit on the battlefield depends on the number of drones, and how many lives of our soldiers we save depends on this,” Fedorov recalled.

Development of a Lancet analogue: what is known

At the end of August, information appeared that Ukrainian inventors had developed an analogue of the Russian kamikaze drone Lancet called Perun.

It was noted that the development is being tested, and there are some “technological nuances” that need improvement. At that time, new Ukrainian UAVs were already flying and hitting targets.

Mass production of new drones was planned.

The Lancet is a Russian unmanned loitering munition. It can hit ground vehicles and other targets both at the front and in the rear. Drones are capable of circling in the air for a long time, tracking a target, and then quickly attacking it.
