The group's activities consisted of committing sabotage and acts of sabotage related to the sending of parcels with explosives and hazardous materials hidden inside by courier companies.
In Poland, law enforcement officers detained four people for preparing and carrying out international sabotage activities. The defendants were planning to damage industrial facilities, critical infrastructure and set fires.
The National Prosecutor's Office of Poland reported this.
The Mazovian Branch of the Organized Crime and Corruption Department of the National Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, together with the Polish Internal Security Agency, are conducting an investigation “into participation in foreign intelligence activities in Poland and other EU member states by committing sabotage actions.”
They specified that these sabotage actions consist of damaging industrial facilities and critical infrastructure in the form of airports, aircraft and transport,as well as starting fires using courier transport with spontaneous combustion.
The investigation was launched on August 5, 2024. During the course of it, four people involved in the activities of the exposed international sabotage group were detained, charged and temporarily arrested. Two more criminals have been put on the international wanted list.
In Poland, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies in other EU countries, intensive measures are being taken to establish the full circle of those involved in the activities of this criminal group.
As noted, the group's activities consisted of sabotage and acts of sabotage related to the sending of parcels with explosives and hazardous materials hidden inside by courier companies to EU countries and the UK, which self-ignited or detonated during transportation.
The group's goal was also to check the transmission channel for this type of parcels, which were ultimately to be sent to the United States and Canada.
By the way, recently the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry Radoslaw Sikorski accused Russia of hybrid attacks on his country and threatened to expel the ambassador of this state.
