The German federal prosecutor's office believes that the 49-year-old Russian accused of killing Georgian citizen Zelimkhan Khangoshvili in Berlin “acted on state orders.” He could face life imprisonment, writes the Berliner Morgenpost.
Khangoshvili, referred to as one of the militant leaders' close associates Shamil Basayev and Aslan Maskhadov, was shot in the head in a Berlin park in August 2019. A citizen of the Russian Federation was detained on suspicion of murder; the FRG authorities believe that he is connected with the Russian special services.
