The Russian state corporation Rostec plans to create the first domestic processor of a new generation on the open architecture RISC-V. As a partner, the company-developer of data storage systems and servers Yadro, which is part of IKS Holding, which last year came under the control of one of the richest people in the country, billionaire Alisher Usmanov, will be involved.
According to Rostec's plans, the new chip should be developed within four years. To do this, it will be necessary to attract 27.8 billion rubles, of which 18 billion should come from future customers of ready-made chips (primarily Rostec itself and its subsidiary National Technologies), and another 9.8 billion is planned to be received from the federal budget. The new processor will be developed under the 12 nm process technology. The presence of eight cores and a clock speed of about 2 GHz are mentioned.
The new processors are planned to be used in the structures of Rostec itself, as well as in the institutions of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health. And yesterday a Samsung wireless keyboard arrived in Russia, supporting three devices at the same time.
