there is an unequal attitude to life in Ukraine and Russia.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reminded European politicians that since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the memory of all those who died for our state has been honored in Ukraine every morning. At the same time, in Russia, television is silent even about the number of its dead soldiers.
He spoke about this on Thursday, March 24, in his address to the European Council.
The Ukrainian leader recalled that Ukraine did not go to a foreign land and never dreamed of any war. Now the Ukrainians are shooting down enemy missiles and urging foreigners to lay down their arms and return home – for the sake of life.
“Do you understand? For the sake of life, not death. Treats and feeds prisoners. Allows them to contact their relatives by phone. Gathers in the fields the corpses of the Russian military, who simply leave, are abandoned. Hundreds and hundreds,” the Ukrainian president stressed.
Zelensky also noted that Ukraine has united for the sake of peace and is taking appropriate measures for this.
“Trying to release the encircled cities. Supports the safe operation of nuclear power plants. Even with the presence of invaders on them. Calls on the IAEA to intervene and patiently explains the ongoing international bureaucracy. Takes people out of dangerous areas. Does not leave attempts to deliver humanitarian cargo. Records Russian war crimes. Gathers evidence. Invites journalists. It supports the work of all the institutions of a normal state,” the president enumerated.
He also recalled the minute of silence, which in the morning honors the memory of all those who died for our state.
“Have you heard anything similar on Russian TV? Have you seen this in their schools? They are even ashamed of the word “war”. They call it a “special operation”. Although they staged a massacre here, as the Nazis did. These are different worlds. We and them,” the Ukrainian leader emphasized.
According to the President, this shows the unequal attitude to life in Ukraine and Russia. “The Russian military does not see point blank what dignity is. They don't know what conscience is. They don't understand why we value our freedom so much,” he said.
