There will be no peace in Ukraine without Russia and China – Czech President

Без России и Китая мира в Украине не будет – президент Чехии

Petr Pavel expects a certain "shift" in a war later this year, possibly early next year.

Without Russia and China at the negotiating table, it will not be possible to reach any peace talks on the war in Ukraine.

This was stated by Czech President Petr Pavel, idnes.cz reports.

According to him, China should take more responsibility for the peaceful arrangement of the world based on rules, and not on who has a larger army or economic power.

“If China does not do this, Russia will not feel an internal need to act. On the contrary, it will try to gain advantages for itself. Either on the battlefield or in the sphere of international politics,” he explained Pavel.

The Czech President expects a certain shift in the war in Ukraine at the end of this year, possibly at the beginning of next year. In his opinion, the development will be determined by the fact that this year has brought a large number of important elections in important countries, the first of which will be the presidential election in the United States. Another factor, he believes, is war fatigue, which affects both warring parties.

Commenting on Volodymyr Zelensky's words about plans to involve Russia in the next peace summit, Pavel noted that it is not yet known whether this is realistic, but it is “necessary and desirable.”

However, according to him, the negotiations would not make sense if Russia approached them the way it has done so far, when it essentially put forward conditions for capitulation. “But without Russia and China, there really won't be any peace talks at the table,” Pavel noted.

President Zelensky previously answered whether he would cede territory to save people's lives.
