There were three class C flares on the Sun

Three solar flares occurred on Thursday morning, according to the website of the Laboratory of X-ray Astronomy of the Sun of the Physics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The first class C outbreak began at 07:10 Moscow time, an hour later followed by another at 08:00 Moscow time. The latter happened at 08:50 Moscow time. Each of the flashes lasted 5-7 minutes.

Flare activity is divided into five categories based on the intensity of the X-ray radiation: A, B, C, M and X. Plasma clouds emitted during flares lead to magnetic storms on Earth. As pointed out by the head of the laboratory, Sergei Kuzin, this happens two to three days after the outbreak. According to the scientist, the current outbreak is unique because solar activity is now minimal.

A weak storm can provoke minor interruptions in the operation of power systems, as well as affect the migration paths of birds and animals. Stronger ones cause disruptions to short-wave communications and the operation of navigation systems, as well as provoke voltage failures in industrial networks. What kind of magnetic storm should be expected on the weekend is not specified.
