Former associate of Peter Pavlensky Oksana Shalygina accused him of torture and sadistic rape.
Shalygina described the history of her relationship with Pavlensky in the book “He didn't hit me in the face”. In an interview with Wonderzine, Shalygina admitted that she first told anyone about the violence from Pavlensky only after breaking up with him.
According to Shalygina, she realized the level of the artist's cruelty while he was in a Paris prison.
“In France we parted for eleven months. And the longer we were without each other, the better I felt. The happier I felt: I could decide for myself, I did not feel the pressure that was always there while he was around, ”said Oksana.
According to her, Pavlensky did not just beat him up, his actions can be “compared with a concentration camp in terms of extremeness.”
At the same time, according to Oksana, he “thought in a project-based way”, declared that she deserved the most terrible attitude, she was to blame for this and must accept it.
“I remember, I really had a black body, my lower body was black, legs and everything else, it was painful to breathe, the feeling that he broke a couple of my ribs. There was a period when he beat me every day, he could just beat me over the same bruises again. It was scary to look at me, ”the woman recalls.
After one episode, Pavlensky began to rape his partner.
“When you are beaten, this is one feeling, but when you are being raped, it is completely different. There is very little room left in the head where you can hide in order not to go crazy. It's quite difficult to realize that a loved one can do this to you. This happened every night before going to bed. Sadistic rapes did not last long, a few days, then they were no longer needed, ”said Oksana.
According to her, Pavlensky kicked her on the torso, never touched her face. Their common daughters remember how he beat her with a chair. Attempts to leave ended unsuccessfully, once the artist locked Shalygina with the girls in the apartment, and then accused that she wanted to “act unworthily.”
Oksana also told how she cut off her finger for Pavlensky. According to her, they parted for six months, and when she wanted to return, he demanded a sacrifice.
“I didn't care about my body. And only now I understand what I really did to myself – I really cut off a part of myself and, albeit symbolically, gave it to another person. Peter was very proud of this, he said that it was a mark for life: any man will see that it was done for his sake, ”she said.
