The long-awaited meeting of the two leaders of superpowers – the United States and China – took place near San Francisco. Joe Biden and Xi Jinping tried to “soften” relations, talked about Ukraine, as well as Beijing’s position towards Moscow.

It is obvious that the American president persuaded the leader of the Celestial Empire not to increase the level of support for Russia. Political scientist Igor Chalenko shared this assumption with Channel 24 .

Ukraine will be supported in the future

According to Chalenko, Chinese companies with state shares sometimes help Moscow in a certain way, but there is no such support at the state level. Washington is trying to avoid and is helping to prevent Beijing from supplying weapons from its reserves to the Russian occupation army just like a country.

“China really helps Russia, but this help is in no way comparable to the needs that Moscow has today. That is why the main “donor” of weapons has become not China, but North Korea,” the political scientist emphasized.

In the end, the results of the meeting between Biden and Xi make it clear that Ukraine will be supported.

We once again saw assurances that Ukraine will be supported: our democracy and resistance to Russian aggression. This is very important,” Igor Chalenko emphasized.

Meeting between Biden and Xi: result

  • Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said China had not changed its attitude before the Russian-Ukrainian war amid negotiations between leader Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden. However, representatives of the two states exchanged views on what Beijing calls the “Ukrainian crisis.”
  • American President Joe Biden called the meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping “constructive and productive,” saying that they agreed, in particular, on the resumption of military ties and the fight against drugs.
  • Xi Jinping assured Biden that China has no intention of attacking Taiwan in the coming years. The head of China said that he had seen reports, assessments and forecasts in the United States about China's intentions to allegedly begin military operations against Taiwan before a certain year. The Chinese leader expressed “irritation” at such reports, insisting that there are no such plans.
