There was a prisoner riot in the Rostov pre-trial detention center/Collage 24 Channel

In Rostov-on-Don, a group of prisoners captured two pre-trial detention center employees. According to Russian media, “riot police” went to free the hostages.

What happened

Six accused, who were in the pre-trial detention center, broke the glass in their cell and entered the duty room. There they took two employees hostage.

All personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard were put on alert. The employees are armed and sent to a pre-trial detention center on Maxim Gorky Street. Many ambulances were also sent there. The road to the detention center is blocked.

According to preliminary information, the criminals are demanding a car, weapons and the opportunity to leave the detention center. And then they are ready to release the hostages.

Riot police moved towards the pre-trial detention center. Negotiations are still ongoing. We are not talking about the assault yet.

The names of the “rebels” became known

The media named names of 5 of 6 prisoners who seized the Rostov pre-trial detention center.

Most of them were convicted under articles of terrorism. Thus, Gireev, Tsitskiev and Akiev were convicted in December 2023 for participation in ISIS and preparing a terrorist attack. They planned to attack the building of the Supreme Court of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. Gireev and Akiev were sentenced to 18 years in prison, and Tsitskiev to 18 and a half years.

The terrorists recorded several video messages. The footage shows that they are armed with knives and sharpeners.

The criminals confirmed that they are members of ISIS and say that the hostage-taking was not spontaneous. The attackers are trying to find firearms in the pre-trial detention center.
